ABC - V to AE (Æ)

Dear ABC in Words and pictures participants and readers of my blog, I'm back after 6400 km (4000 miles) on European Roads and a wonderful weekend in Holland last week. Several of my back ground information has been stored on my other PC, which I until this afternoon have been away from. And not to forget my problems uploading photos. Seems to have been solved.
Letter "V" has been prepared since long, all the others have been created this Friday.

Because I will bring you my solutions for several letters, each letter will be treated shorter than I usually do. Besides, at the end of the Alphabet, words beginning with same letter and meaning the same in both English and Norwegian becomes more and more rare.
But, have I said A, then I have to fullfill. Right?

About you and Letter "V":

“V” represents fabrication. These, with this letter in their names, are honest and fair people. They make wonderful allies. They are loyal to a fault. What you see is what ... Read more

Well, what is common in English and Norwegian? Because I will cover many letters this week, I'll limit it to a very few.

Vigeland Scuplture Park - Vigeland skulpturpark - a part of Frognerparken in Oslo - Norway.
One million visitor per year. I've lived near by for many years.
Ooops, it's a sculpture in flesh and blood on the Photo. Who might that be;-))

Vertical - vertikal. You see this Church in Fredrikstad is build with the Boards vertically.

Volcano - vulkan. Here from Villarica and Volcan Villarica (Chile). Scanned from old slide).

Vikingship - Vikingskip. Here from the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo. Only 4 minutes walk from my childhood home. I've been there with lot's of Family and Friends and never got tired of it. Allways some details to discover. The handicraft is world class and amazing.

Veteran Car - Veteran bil - as seen in Uruguay in December 2007.

Let's continue with the letter W.
A letter that is very rare in Norway. We normally use V, when in english W. A very few Examples (eksempler): Window - vindu, Wind - vind, Winter - vinter, Wide . vid, weave - veve, Wax - voks, Wasp - veps, Water - vann

As usual:
The origin of W

What about People with a W in their name?

“W” represents self-expression and resourcefulness.

With persistence, a person with a “W” in their name goes after what they want. These are some of the most .... Read more

Something to drink, like a Whiskey. Photo taken today with my iPhone 3G s.
Well, this bottle is a Gift received from my good Dutch friend Wim. Since it's forbidden here in Norway to promote Alcohole, you must be very sober to find out what Whiskey this is;-))

Then, I'll take two in a row. Also very challenging. X and Y axis

Besides introducing the next Letter, it is also an introduction to Mathematics. What axis is vertical and who's horisontal?

Y up in the Sky. Fits also in Norwegian: Y opp i sky.

If interested, you can learn more about axis here.

Origin of the Letter X, read more

This is interesting:
“X” represents sensuality. These pleasure lovers crave luxury. They can be self-indulgent only because comfort is .... read more

Is there anything special about the letter X? Read here.

Ok, I must I 'm not old enough to meet this woman:

Here, is the famous Wife of Sokrates: Xantippe - Xantippe

Well, I got confused. X or Y? Start again:

Who are you if a Y in your Name?
“Y” is the letter representing independence. This letter is sometimes used as a ... Read more

More about Letter Y here

There is a very few words meaning the same in English and Norwegian beginning with the letter Y. Yoghurt - Yoghurt - but that's imported . as a name for a product. YEAH - ja.

However, it was a very nice trip with this Yacht - yacht in the Oslofjord.

Well, we have been here. Yosemite National Park - Yosemite nasjonalpark - California, USA.

In Math we are familiar with the X- and Y-axis - x og y aksene.

This is the last Letter in the English Language. Officially. In Norwegian i search for words beginning with Z. I found 12.

About you:
“Z,” last letter of the alphabet, represents hope. People with “Z” letters in their names are trusting and trustworthy. This quality makes them sought after by many - - - Read more

Zoo - Zoo - a zoological garden - zoologisk hage. Here from Nancy, France.

But, in addition I found Zalo. Norwegians favourite for doing dishes, the traditional way. As we do in the Summerhouse.

I also think many of my readers have opened a Zip-file - zip-fil.

Surprise:

We have been twice to Zipolite - a name of a Beach and settlement in Mexico (SW - Pacific). We love this spot. A place you feel free and can stay without thinking about lodging costs. Every languages spoken.

And now, we are coming to what Americans calls "Special Characters" - our Nordic final 3 letters. This week Æ or a combined A and E in some few English words. Aerosol etc.

Iwill reveal an English Book, where you can see this local letter, as it is. Click on the Photo.
I remember I read a short version of this book, when I was very young. I was fascinated.

Veldig kjekt å ha deg tilbake og det er imponerende at du orket å ta alle bokstavene i et jafs! Du har kanskje hatt god tid til å klarne hjernen og ferie kan være bra for kreativiteten!
Alle bidragene dine her er veldig bra!
Kattungene dine er kjempesøte!
Har bare måtte slutt å se på bildene av dem. Blir for fristende!

@ Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I really do appreciate that mye ABC-friends still are visting and commenting in spite of my Vacation abscence.

There is still two letters to go.
How can I do it, both in English and Norwegian? Will there be any solutions or do I have to give up?

In between: more posts from our 6400 km (4000 miles) in Europe.

The alphabet series has been very interesting, Tor. I was interested to see the W words...not so different from the English, are they?

As for AE...in medicine words like haemorrhage, anaemia, etc. have the AE, whereas in the US it's just the E. But apart from Aesop, I can't think of any that actually start with the AE. Quite a good riddle, isn't it?

Her er det brukt både tid og tanker for å få fram slike opplysninger om bokstavene, og imponerende at du holder deg til det du lovte fra bokstav A :-) Artig vinkling på ABC, synes jeg.
