An unforgetable Saturday in Southern Provence
First we went up the Gorges d’Ollioules – a deep vally carved out by the water for millions of years and then turned right from old N8, to climb up to Evenos. A very tiny settlement.
Here is the 1000 year old Dungeon.
St Martin was the settlements protector against the “bad” man that lived across the Valley. And came at night….
St. Martin in the Church named by him
Evenos is a very old settlement. Here you see the old Dungeon on top of the Cliffs. It was volcanoes here before the formation of the Alpes several hundred million years ago.
Narrow Paths between the houses and the dungeon on top
Wonderful views down the Ollioules crevice
Here is the old Wall and Claudie
After such a wonderful historical experience we thought about something very French: Goose Liver.
Here for example, in Evenos: We Eat, we Drink - (On mange, on boit)
Well we had to say farwell to Evenos..
Heading for the Highest point in this part of Southern France: Mont Caume. In the Background here.
BUT. YES. WE HAD TO STOP HERE:
Why? And where?
Le Broussan – Claudie and Pierre was married here in this very Church back in 1981. So folks, remember next year to celebrate..
But we had to go further. To the highest point in Southern Provence. Very narrow road
It was very windy up there …
But a 360 degrees vie
The terrain is protected. No paragliding etc allowed from the Cliffs. After the Mountain,
we went here And this was what we brought home – inside mmmmmm. Just a secret you must discover for yourself.
At the end of the Day: Pierre was le Chef once more.
A toast for all of you. Was it Champagne, Créme de Bourgogne or Créme de Alsace. We know.
After a day in the Mountains, papa had learned how to climb. Instead of a Head Helmet he found a Nouse Helmet. When will he ever learn?
Have wonderful week.
More to come from France, Norway and even Turkey.
So look into my blog from time to time.
I will comment as often as I can - but have 16 hours workdays for a week or so...
