This is for U - Comment in your own Language - dette er for deg, kommenter på ditt eget morsmål.
The Letter U is often used as a prefix both in English and Norwegian.
Mostly in English combined as "Un" like in "Undone" - "ugjort" or "Unfinnished" - "uferdig" or "Undetermined" - "ubesluttet". As you, my dear readers have allready discovered: In English these words starts with "Un" and in Norwegian with a simple "U".

It's Vacation time. U know;-))

Let's start in Oslo - This is the old University - universitet - in downtown Oslo. Inside there is fantastic frescos painted by Edvard Munch. I had my Psycho lessons here. In the Aula. Where I also joined several classical music concerts. Before the new Concert Hall in Oslo were finnished.

Turning around from the University, we are still in Oslo. And here you see "Urban" - "urbant" life - liv in the Norwegian Capital.

Before I bring you far away from Norway, I'll show you how some parts of our Summer House (sommerhus) looked like "Unfinnished" - "uferdig". You can't image how steep it us unless been there.

It's about time to bring you, my dear readers, on a journey. The letter " U" ain't easy, "unless - unntatt" you are from USA - USA. Photo taken on July 4, in SW Michigan, Eaux Claire - I had to explain to the locals the name of the Township orginates from French and means Clearwater. I will not comment on their reactions.

It's a long way from USA to South America. Here you see the national Flower of Uruguay - Uruguay. Same colours as is in the country's National Flag.

Norwegians love to walk in the Nature and the Mountains. Maybe it's unexpected that I bring you here?
This tiny village, Uspallata (Mendoza District in Argentina), is where you have to apply for a permission to climb the highest point in the Americas, and the highest Mountain outside Asia.
So now you know where to adress, when thinking about climbing to 6.954 meters, when snow over 7.000 meters.

What does this photo have to do with the letter "U"? It's simply unhabitated - ubebodd.
We were there in April. That's not the best time of year. It was blowing and blowing and snowing higher up. So we gave up, even to base camp. Best time of year is early January.


Sometimes we have to admit: It's better to go "Under - under" than over a Mountain. This photo, scanned from a slide, is the Argentian side of the main road between Argentina and Santiago de Chile. For your information: The old railroad and road have both been destroyde by stone sledges. Caused by Snow and Eartquakes.

I'm back in our Winter Home after some unforgetable days with Ingelin in Miami Beach. Until now, I have only given you some clue of what is to be presented in the coming posts. I promise: It will be more variety than you might have expected from me. Let that be in the Blue. I'll do some research regarding all my hundreds of photos, of which you will only see a few.

Miami Beach at Night

My first report from Miami is not was it was supposed to be. I’ll spice this “horror” story with some pictures from the first evening with Ingelin in Miami Beach.

I left our winter home at 10 pm Eastern Time on Wednesday and arrived at Miami International airport at 2:15 pm on Thursday.

Ingelin was waiting for me. I had only to go through the passport control. With all papers according to the rules, we both were convinced this should be peace of cake.

The procedure is as simple as this:

Deliver the “green” and “white” formulas together with your machine readable passport.

Have your fingerprints scanned and your face digitally photographed. A simple IT application even youngsters can create.

But what happened here? The controller used up to 8-10 minutes per person. When 60 in the lane before me, I had to send a text message to Ingelin. It might take a while.

Why did it take so long? From distance it looks like nothing was done – only talking. When coming closer to the checkpoint I realized people had to repeat the fingerprint scanning and the photographing again and again. System problems.

What I do when I have such problems? I restart my machine. But not these guys. After 2 hours and 30 minutes, we (all the foreign tourist) were told: Sorry we have Computer Problems. All machines were shut down (36 passport controls they have here) – and restarted again.

New round: Read the Passport in the magnetic stripe reader. No problems. But: Fingerprint and photo – trouble again. Now they ha to restart their machines between each yoyager.

I passed the passport control at 5:15 pm. And Ingelin picked me up.

Here I am at her veranda. Luckely to see Ingelin.

Some comments: You are not allowed to use your phone until you have passed the control point. What about people waiting for passengers without knowing what’s going on? For 3 hours.

Some people were very tired and sat down on the floor. OH, No. That’s forbidden.

It’s also forbidden to leave your luggage unattended. But what happens when you arrive to the Baggage Claim 3 hours after arrival? Have never in my life seen so much unattended luggage at an Airport when I finally come to the Baggage Claim Hall. And to days regulations do not allow you to lock your luggage. Scary.

What is most scary is the fact that US Authorities have implemented new procedures 100% depending on IT – and deployed it without checking the quality and stability of the application and equipment. Not to speak about basic user training. That’s so arrogant to the usual air traveller and foreign tourists I’m tempted to use the word: Terrorism.

We went for a walk to the beach. Papa is Wading at Night


Then we went to the locals favourite cafe and had a wonderful Salad.
