Vacation report 5: Nancy in Daylight

When in France during Summertime, relaxe and have a refreshment.
We had two Nights in Nancy in North East France. And thus a whole Day with Blue Sky and comfortable Temperature - around 28 C in the Shadow.

We went down to Place Stanislas. It's really a jewel, and a kept secret for most foreigners to France. And the nearby old City and the Parc are both marvelous as well. So when you think about visiting France: Have Nancy on your travel menu as well. Besides, it's only 90 minutes away from Paris with the TGV - The High Speed Train.

Below is som glimpses from Nancy.

Place Stanislas and the City Hall - in Daylight. Papa does have lot's memories.

Stanislas - the Momument

Details from a Lamp. At Place Stanislas.

The entrence to the City Park is marvellous.

Details....

Here is a view from Place Stanislas towards one of the Churches.

Another view, this thime from Place General de Gaulle, and the entrence to the Place Stanislas the background.

Lot's of flowers in the City Park.

And living animals. Oh, ain't they cute?

Is this a Street Car (Tram) - a Bus or a Trolley Bus? It's a combination I've never seen before.
It has a mono-rail, rubber-wheels like an ordinary bus and goes on electricity.

Here is another capture from the Local, Indoor Market in Nancy.

More from the Indoor Market in Nancy. Cheese. Smile. Be happy.

Next time, I'll bring you to the Middle of France. The home of George Sand and after that to visit the Village of Sancerre, famous for it's high Quality White Wine. And also from Bourges.

Vacation report 4: Sound and Light Show in Nancy

Nancy, the Capital of the former dukedom of Lorraine (Lothringen) has a very special place in Papas heart:
Back in April 1968 - just before the Student riots in Paris - he was there as a member of a Norwegian Theatre group during an international Theatre Festival.
We played Moliérs "Les femmes Savantes" - The Learned Ladies - in Norwegian for a French public. The Audience loved it and we won the Public Prize.

The Theatre - Opera de Lorraine, is situated in marvellous surroundings at
The Place Stanislas named after the king of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and duke of Lorraine Stanisław Leszczyński, Place de la Carrière, and Place d'Alliance were added on the World Heritage Sites list by the UNESCO in 1983.

During the Summertime it's a Sound and Light Show from 10:45 pm at Place Stanislas. The City Hall, Hotel de Ville, is suddenly the Screen for a show Papa has never seen the kind of. It's superb in all it's brilliance. Music and Pictures and animations and movies.About the history of Nancy. Just breathtaking. It's worth the journey to Nancy alone. Entrence is free.

Here are some photos from the show.

More to come from Nancy, in daylight.

Papa goes on Vacation - report 1

Hello my dear readers,
as you might know, we are travelling by Car from Norway to South of France.
The Traffic in Europe are heavy and the speed is very high (130-210 km or 80-150 mph). So everybody has wished us a safe drive.

Well, papa drives soft like a Water Lilly.

But, he can not determine who he meet of crazy drivers on Autobahn.
Happy that Kaya could help me when in a wheel Chair after 6 and a half hours on Autobahn. Chocking;-)

Well, at least Kaya knows how to treat his father in law, if ...

.... and Anna as well.

We are now safe and sound in Northern France. In Nancy, where I was a part of a Norwegian Theatre group in 1968. We won the Audience Prize. Hurray. What you see above is the Town Hall during a Sound and Light Show. Place Stanislas.

More to come... so stay tuned.

PS - I don't know when I next time will have internet connection - and for how long - so please excuse me for not commenting - take my posts as short reports.
