Lillis has got a new Home

This afternoon Lillis was picked up by her new humans.

As you may recall, we have been very restricted and demanding when choosing a new home for this very special Cat of the Manx breed.
Lillis laying on the Cat Tower
Photo taken Sunday, March 27. Nearly 5 Months old (Born Nov 3)

Lilli was born during special conditions: Breech Birth. Papa had to grip her back bones and pull her gently out. When out, we were convinced she was dead. But her Mother started to lick her and whatever a Mother could do to bring her newborn allive.

You can see and read about it here.

And she is as well only kitten. And a Manx.

Lillis - a portrait
I simply had to take some more photos of her, as we agreed upon the Day and Time when she would be delivered to her new humans.
We are convinced she will have a great life with them.
Her older sister (Marta) and brother (Manxen/Monsen) lives with and have a great Cat life with the girls  grandpa and wife in their house.

Lillis loved to play with her Aunt Rosa.

Here you see her new human friends. They have a 13-14 year old Male Cat from before, so we think Lillis will turn up his and his humans life.

Farwell Lillis. We will allways remember you;-)
We know you would have liked to stay with us, but we had to realize it would not have been the best for you.
Lillis you should know, Teardrops kept falling when you left… We wish you the very best in your new Home.

We hope to see Photos and have reports from your new Home and Life.

A Kitten report 2

Dear bloggerfriends, I’m still on my temporary internet connection. During February it will be a new digital world here in our Winter Home.
Lilli and Mother Felicia
Lilli, the Kitten, has recovered after 2 days with fever. She is back to normal Kitten activities. All who have had Kittens knows what that’s about;-) Her you see her with her Mother Felicia just some minutes ago.
As soon as my Internet connection will be upgraded, I’ll return to comment all my blog-friends posts. So please be patient with me in the meantime.

PS. I had the pleasure to talk to Ginnie and Astrid this afternoon. We will meet in the Spring. Where? That’s a secret…

Much more to come…

A Kitten report

Prolog:
Papa is about to change his Internet Service Provider.
Which should have been taken place from Jan 1st.
But due to technical challenges, it will be postponed at least until Feb 1st.
In the meantime, papa is using his “mobile” internet connection, which is not very fast.

Then the News:
Lilli, the 2 months old Kitten got a severe fever here on Thursday.
(Photo at bottom of story)
She did not eat, nor drink. She was allmost “dead”.Slept on my body for hours without a move. She was hot as an Iron.
I checked the Phone # and opening time for our Vet.
Her Mother was as well desperate – miewoooow .

During the Night I found Lilli at the Rest Room, heating cables on the Floor you know.
She was shivering.

What to do?
Leave her here or bring her into papa’s bed?
Or leave her to her Mother Felicia?
Or her Aunt Rosa?

Anna, my wife, you know, as well had a serious Cold, so she slept in another Room but me….
Friday morning Lilli seemed to be a bit better, so I went to work.
(in fact a very good day at work).

When returning home Friday afternoon, it seems Lilli was more or less half recovered, until she once again wanted to lay on papa. She was again hot as an Iron.Really warm she was.

So I thought, Saturday morning: The Vet.
We will see....
Lilli
Here you see Lilli. Papa thinks she is a beautiful Manx Cat.

More to come….

ps. due to my present internet connection, blogging etc will be at a very low level, but it was important to tell about Lilli.

No more Kittens - A Chapter is over

Yes, it's true. We have no Kittens left in our Home.
We can walk around without beeing attacked in our own Home.
That's strange.
Here you see Felicia with her 3 Kittens
On the other hand, we can once again concentrate and give our full attention to Felicia and Rosa.
Here are the Twins, which now lives together.

Mister had a Quality Time with Anna during his last Evening in the Home where he was born.

Mister adapted he's new environment very quickly. Here he is walking on his new floor, coloured with Sun Beems Saturday Morning.
Well he did hide for some hours and quarelled with his sister, whom he had never seen before, for some minutes. That was Friday Afternoon.
But he soon did find an Antique Chair. Quality Matters
Do you remember Marta? Born July 17-2009. She is allready Famous, beeing in the Local Newspaper. Here she is again. Food you know. Mieooooeww - puurr puur

Saturday Morning, some noise wake me up: Marta and Mister playing. Like Kittens use to do.
And we reurned home to our two beloved Cats:

Two Kittens got new Owners

Wednesday afternoon I got a SMS:
- My name is G L. Do you still have Kittens?
- Yes, we have two, a female and a male.

Here they are, brother and sister

Then a Phone Call:
- Hi, it's G L. Do you think we can come and have a look at the Kittens this evening? So we can pick up one?
- Well, I replied, we have decided the two Kittens shall live together. How do you live?
- We live in a Villa with a great Garden
- Well, then you can come this evening. But I warn you, we have opened a bottle of Champagne.
We hope the Norwegian Mens Team will win the Cross Country Ski relay in the Olympics.
- That's great, we can then see the finnish when we arrive.

Love at first sight

We had both Champagne and Red Wine from Argentina. Norway won the Gold Medal.
And guess what, the young lady was born in Argentina, and did live there until she was 13.
Hence, we started talking like old friends and had a nice evening before they went home with their two new Family members.
Happy new Cat Owners
We are sure they will give the Kittens a great new Home. We know, because Felicia (Mother Cat) also accepted the new owners very quick and easy, which is not her normal way of behaviour.

PS. On Saturday we will celebrate Metin Leander's Naming Ceremony in Oslo City Hall. More on that later.

Kitten tragedies

My regular readers my remember Felicia gave birth to 6 kittens on December 1 - 2009?

Well we are so happy as we was at that day.

However, this is not a happy post about Cats. So be warned. Photos taken with my iPhone in order not to be to detailed.

One of the Kittens died last Saturday. Gene failure.

On Sunday we discoverd another two of the Kittens were born with serious defects. One of their back legs was only half size. This is the curse of the Manx-gene.

To Day I went to the Vet. It was only two solutions: Amputate the misformed legs from knee and down or give them a sleep-in injection. After a relative short pro et contra discussion we decided to end their life one week old. They would never could have lived a good life as Cats. Not even as indoor Cats.

Here you see the Vet with the tiny black kitten. Missed half her right back leg.

It was, however very heartbreaking to hold them in my hands while the Vet gave them the injections.

Except for their handicaped legs they were very healthy and large, even their eyes were open, kittens to be only one week old.

The Vet told me she has never seen so large kittens and with open eyes so young before.

While they passed away, the Vet opened Internet to read about the Manx breed.

Then checked the kittens. They needed a double injection. So they were strong. In their too short life.

Rest in Peace our dear little ones. They will be cremated.

More Cats on Tuesday here. Hope there will be many lucky stories

COT - July 21, 2009 - Kittens

Felicia gave Birth last Friday.
It startet around midnight.
Number one arrived around 2 am.
She struggeled for around 17 hours.
This time you can click on each photo to enlarge)

Feets first. We helped Felicia. But in vain.

Dead. Wrong way out. Besides too large for a first time Birth.
No Tail. You See?
Summary before more photos:
At 4 am #2 arrived.
Healthy. Great.
At 4:30 am #3 arrived

Papa went to bed.

Her is # 2 and 3. The Black one is #2.

At 8.00 am # 4 arrived.
Healthy.
Proud mama Felicia
.

Here you see the 3 living when papa wake up.
Mama Felicia was very hungry and was away eating for a short while.

At 4:45 pm # 5 arrived. Papa did not want to disturb the new Cat Family, so this is what he was allowed to publish.

Result: 4 living kittens. They seems to be very healty.

I would have liked to post more from this very special event.
You see, we have waited many years tho give Felicia and Rosa the opportunity
to have kittens. Last year was in vain.
This year, Felicia succeeded. We are very happy she did.
Rosa still struggles.
---
Besides, we are going on Vacation.
So what to do?
Planning is one side of the challenge.
The other is what's best for the Cats.

The result will be:
Felicia and her 4 kittens will stay with Sylvi - indoor. While we are away.

Rosa and Stompa (Sylvi's Cat) will stay in the Summerhouse
with Cat-sitters, who will live here, when we are on Vacation. Here they are Tuesday Evening.

We think this is the best and safest result for both the Cats and people.

I hope you, my dear reader, understand, this situation has caused us
some logistic challenges. When talking about the Cats.
Our Garden, travel logistics, and my work, my daughter's pregancy, well,
you might understand papa have had not much time to post or comment.

Felicia and her 4 Kittens will be transported from our Summerhome
on Wednesday to Sylvi.
While we are on Vacation: No Photos of the Kittens. Sorry.
(May be I will take and post some photos from the Move of Felicia and her Kittens from Summer Home to Sylvi, during our Vacation).

More Cats here at Gattinas.
