Photo Hunt - Upside down

When you see a kid, and take a photo, it's allmost allways from Upside and down. Have you thought about that?

This Photo is from a very special meeting in Holmsbu, South East Norway.
The persons on the Bench are Wim, our Dutch Friend, Anna and the charming girl is the grandchilderen of Anna's Hosts (you see grandpa O. to the right) when she celebrated her half a century some years ago. That was a blast of a celebration.
And a very nice meeting.

PhotoHunt June 13 - 2009 - Lock

Papa is back on Photo Hunter - Hurray;-))
With more than one type of Lock.

Here you see a Cat in a travelling cage.
The Lock is made from plastic - just easy to turn and Lock.
The Cat? It's Stompa. My regular readers do know him. Photo from last year.

Then, we are leaving Norway and going East. To Sweden and the Gothic Canal.
(Göta kanal)

You are invited to the most western of all the Locks in this Canal.
At Sjötorp. At the eastern end of Lake Vänern, the greatest lake in the Nordics.
My friend Renny has often written from the area.

Enjoy the life and sceneries around Canal Locks. It's very special. Here it's how it works.

To elevate, the Lock has to be empty

(I did travel on the Canals in Europe back in 1965 - Germany - Holland - Belgium - France - Switzerland - and experienced several hundreds Locks)

PhotoHunt March 28 - 2009 - Hand

THIS WEEKS THEME IS HAND. IT'S WRITTEN THE SAME WAY IN NORWEGIAN.
Go to the ABC Challenge on my post just before this one. And you'll find out why I refere to "written" the same way.

The Hand is probably the Homo Sapiens most important tool beside the species Brain. The Hand does also express a lot of a persons mental state. And activities.
(It's more important for me that you click on each photo to enlarge them as deserved, than commenting)
Here are some HAND e
xamples:

Young and old uses hands to give comfort and trust (Norwegian and Indian)

Hands during a Wedding ceremony - in Punjab, India

Monkeys steal bananas from Homo Sapiens and use their Hands to open and eat.

Henna painting is important descorations for celebrations

Without a Computer or Cellphone, handwriting is still an important means of communication

String instruments are dependant of a feeling
hand

A good cup of Coffee - tastes good and warms your hands

Opening and serving Champagne needs a steady hand (or two)

Playing Air Guitar - no Guitar but Hands

Happy Dancing - Hands up in joy

Ordering at at restaurant - the waiter is explaing - in another Language - hmmm

Grandpa and Grandson - working together

More beautiful Hands here . Do not hesitate, show your hand as well.

Space - Photo Hunt Saturday, Mach 7 - 2009

There are places on Planet Earth, where you can find Space. Lot's of space. Even for other creatures but Homo Sapiens. And for nobody to live at all.
These photos are from the Puna in NW Argentina. Where it is plenty of Space.
And high above Sea Level - from 3500 - over 4000 meters above.

Salar Grande - Puna NW Argentina. Lot's of Space. But hard to survive.

This tiny village do have Space around, even though it is a hard place to survive. It's so beautiful. When you you are the accidential Tourist, as we were.

See - the Sheeps have lots of Space. Even on this empty main road.

And the Vicuñas seems to be in Paradise with all the Space they can live for free.
I love these proud animals. When they are Wild and Free like here. They need space to survive as a species.

PhotoHunt -Feb 14 - 2009 - nautical

This was really a challenge. Last week I could nor decide. This week I did. Only one photo-
I can not deny that I'm living in Norway. What has that to do with thise weeks theme: nautical? Well, it's going far back in history. Most know are the Vikings.

Here you see some young boys. The photo is a scan from a slide.
Two of them, well, they are grandsons to at that time the worlds largest oil carriers. Sitting in this small boat with two of my sons. Happy days. That was. (The Out Board Motor they did "harm" before the one Nautical mile back.

PhotoHunt -Feb 7 - 2009 - Bridge(s)

Hello all PH friends, I did avoid playing Bridge this weekend. My stock of Cards remains in the Summerhouse. LOL.
In fact, I spent my time to find some Bridges from here and there in my different files on my computer storages (yes. I have several) .
Alle the photos in this post are taken by me or Anna.

(Yeah, we have crossed this famous bridge - photo taken by Anna)

Bridge for me means building/creating connection. From end to end.
I ended up with physical connections. Some very old.
Please take your time, even this is a Photo Hunt. You can learn something that most of your friends and neighbours did not know. By clicking on the Links given. You have the whole Weekend. To enjoy. Your comment will be of less value than your curiousty to learn more.

The first one is very old, build by the Romans. Le Pont du Gard. In Southern France. Orginally it was a Water Bridge, but also for people and horses to cross over the River Gard. Yeah. The Water canal is on the top. Suplying stabel fresh water to the crops year around.
Anna is there. How come?

And here too, Anna.
This is the Bridge to the Bath in one of the most renowned fiords in the World:
Geiranger Fiord. During the very short Summer season, more than a hundred Cruise ships do visit each year
.

This Stone Bridge is not that far away from the Photo above. With other words, it's from Norway. All the Stones are locally picked and shaped. Several hundred years ago.
I'm amazed by the effort and planning and will to build a Bridge like this, you can see the local stones at the Riverside. They, who build the Bridge had to, and did find the right stones. Impressing.

Can you see Anna? Click to see the spectacular Mountains in the background. There is a peak, that are next to unclimbable.

From Mountains in Norway to New Holland, Dutch Village, in Michigan, USA. Here you see a fishing enthusiast fishing from a tiny Bridge.

Well, going into the Nature is not allways easy for People who are dependent on Wheel Chairs. This is from the Music and Instrument Museum at Ringve in Norway. A Bridge to the Museum.
OMG. It seems like Anna has been there as well. Can you please join my next Bridge, which is on the intellectual side:
And interview with Mrs Lifecruiser .
Then Mrs lifecruisers's blog about the interview .
We have created bridges across borders.

More Bridges here at Photo Hunters.
