ABC in Words and Pictures: To Day B and C

Since I've been more or less laying with my Toe as my highest point in the past, I'm a bit after schedule with the ABC challenge. However, I take to Letters to day: B and C.
The original ABC challenge derived from Petunia in Norway, but since my Blog is written in a kind of English, I've given me a double challeng: The objects must begin with the same letter or sound in both Norwegian and English. How about that? Letter A was simple, cause it was a photo of Anna.

Here is todays first:
B for Boats or Båter
(Boat - Båt)

Here you see some small Ferry Boats in the town of Strömstad at the Swedish West Coast.
These ferries brings people out to the Islands in the very popular archipelago outside the town. Very popular during the Summer Months, both by Swedes and Norwegian, as Strömstad is very close to the Norwegian Border. It's seems hard to believe how lively it will be around in this Harbour only some months from now.

Here is the second:
C for Cats or katter (Cat and katt)

An easy choice for a Cat-lover. Here are Rosa and Felicia. They are more or less of the Manx breed. Look at this short YouTube clip.

Petunia in Norway startet this challenge . Go and have a look.

PS. We will be away over the weekend

PhotoHunt -Feb 14 - 2009 - nautical

This was really a challenge. Last week I could nor decide. This week I did. Only one photo-
I can not deny that I'm living in Norway. What has that to do with thise weeks theme: nautical? Well, it's going far back in history. Most know are the Vikings.

Here you see some young boys. The photo is a scan from a slide.
Two of them, well, they are grandsons to at that time the worlds largest oil carriers. Sitting in this small boat with two of my sons. Happy days. That was. (The Out Board Motor they did "harm" before the one Nautical mile back.

More Nautical

Can you swim in the ocean at 60 degrees North?

without beeing crazy or a Polar Bear?

Let me tell you, to begin with: (Oslo - Norway)
Sunrise at 3:59 AM
Sunset at: 10: 34 PM
Air temperature (in the shadow): 30 C (86 F)
Water temperature (in the Sea): 21 C (70 F)
We can live with that.

We actually did 2 swimming "tours" in the inner Oslofjord this afternoon.
There will be no pictures for you to see. Because we did not bring our swimming suits. LOL.

Here, on the peppled beach, who was there?

This Sea Bird guarded her two eggs with proud and passion. And with good help of the Naturists that use to frequent this spot - we are all nature lovers - we hope she can have her "babies" safe and sound.
PS. You must enlarge to see

Then we went to our Summerhome.

Had a pleasant "cold" meal. And some White Wine.

View from our platform towwrds the fjord with all the weekend boat "tourists". In the background the highest island in Oslofjord (226 meters above Sea level - 750 feet around)

Norway is the most wonderful place to be, when the Summer is like just now. The long light evenings, the Birds singing, the plants of all kinds so intense. Flowers. Vegetables. And the closeness to Nature. Water, Fields, Mountains, Sea, Forests, Cities, Towns, Marinas, Beaches, Culture, Nightlife, solitude and crowded. The Wild Strawberries - Yeah - ready to be picked.

Have a great Weekend everybody.

Hope to comment your fabulous blogs very soon.

PS. This weekend Sebastian is 7. We need to celebrate.

Boats on Monday

Small boats used by local fishermen at Gotland, Sweden, in the Baltic seas. Small boats like these and simular types have been used in the Nordic countries for centries. If you look closely, you might recognize the shape from the Viking Ships.

So I thougt:
