Papa and Son goes to the Summerhouse and nearly drowned in Snow

My cousin called me the other day and adviced me to shuffle the Snow off the Summerhouse Roofs.
With papa's wounded right big toe, papa needed help.
Who else to call but Niklas? Who immediately agreed to help Papa.

The rest you can imagine. There are some Summer Photos as well, just for you to compare the difference
.

The Lower House - Niklas has begun shuffling - if not, you would not have seen the Upper House. Do you see the top of the entrence door? Then you can imaging how much snow it was, when I took this photo, standing in the snow, and not at the platform at the bottom of the door level.

The Upper House. Photo taken from the Snow below on the ground, not from the lower house roof. During Summer the door entrence is at a higher level than from where the photo was taken this Wenesday.

Winter View: The Platform and Flower Wall

Summer View: The Platform and Flower "Wall" - Just compare.

Winter View from Summerhouse

Autumn View from Summerhouse - just compare

The top of the Chimney is still visibel

The Sleeping Room and Rest Room almost drowned in Snow. The Wall is pressed by the Snow and we have to repair it in the Spring.

When almost finnished, the Spade broke in two Pieces. Pappa and Anna had to return during the Weekend.

The 4 Seasons are fascinating. Can you imagine we crazy Norwegians adore it?

PS. There were some smaller damages, which will be fixed during the early Spring. But that's not for you, my dear reader to worry about.

Winter in Oslo

It is some years now since we had a snowy Winter in downtown Oslo, Capital of Norway.
We are used to snowy Winters, but you know, it allways takes some time to clean all Streets and Metro and Train Lines after a Heavy Snowfall.
And there are still people trying to drive, that should have stayed at home;)), or taking the Bus to their respective jobs
.

Here are some impressions from last weekend. (We were indoor with the Cats)

It did start Snowing. Slowly. It was all white grey. And Silent.

The Snow was light. But, you see it covered up.

We did stay indoor. Waiting for the Pathways and Roads to be cleaned from Snow.
(Some litters to get rid of - you know)

We did not serve Dinner outside last Sunday. You might have a clue why that would have been a stupid idea?

Instead, enjoyed it inside. Potatoes, Carrots, Parsley, red Pepper (Paprika), chilipepper, Bechamel Sauce and Fish Pudding. (No Curry this Sunday, as we do not mix chilipepper and curry). The best beverage is fresh water to this meal.

After Dinner, in the dark, we watched some lightning points outside. See the icicle on the Street Lights?

Look at this: Tuesday. Clear, Blue Winter Sky, and Sun shining on the Hills just North of down Town Oslo. The closest Hills, as you see here, raises to about 560 meters ( around 1750 feet) about Sea Level. Which is Oslo Harbour. You can take the Metro almost to the Top. And up there you can perform every kind of wintersports, even walk on you own feet and have excellent meals.

Sunday Reflections

Sunday is normally a day to relaxe. This Sunday has been different.
Looking out the Window.
Snow. Oslo. Norway. The photo here is as is. Simply the Light that was. Obscure. Afternoon. Very special colors. I have never seen something alike.

It was time to reflect and act as truely friends can only do.
The persons involved do what papa means. He has had his lesson.

But so much unexpected have happended last week.
Regarding close friends. I will - may be reveal some more during the week to come.
We will also have a memorial on jan 29. My Son Rubens Birthday. I still can not believe he is dead. I accept the fact. But, but -papa is still crying and talking to him. It's so unreal.

Have a great week

Papa about Flowers, Candlelight and Snow in Oslo

Papa lit a candle and had a relaxed weekend in Oslo

You my dear readers do know, we have long Nights during the end of Fall and beginning of Winter here in Oslo, Norway.
Since Winter Soltice, our Days have increased more than 1 hr. In less than a Month.

Anna, the Cats and papa had a very relaxing weekend.

The Amaryllis, expected to be in full flower during Christmas have also relaxed for some weeks, but this week end, it opend up in full beauty.
To our fully expectations and Joy.

Then, it started snowing. Not that much in the beginning.

I put out and lit a 72 hrs Candle Saturday afternoon. Here you see it on Sunday Morning. On our Winter Balconny.

Her you will have an impression how much Snow was falling down and created a beautiful white and soft carpet on our Balconny -Also the Candle Sunday afternoon - After nearly 40 hours burning.
Romantic, papa thinks.
I did pay NOK 23 for this Candle (about EUR 2,25 or USD 3.25)

Here you can see there is more snow and less candle. More than a Croc's seize. LOL. On Monday evening.

Have a great week.

HEAVY - PhotoHunter - Feb 9 - 2008

Circumstances like what you see above have been a heavy reality for many Mountain Cabin Owners in Norway this Winter. It's only one solution: Shuffel off the Snow. Before the Spring and Rain. Then we can really talk about Heavy: Wet Snow - besides: It's very heavy to get rid off it. If not, then you need an insurance - with a Heavy Bill. Or mistreat your Roof.

As you can see here, the Snow was not very easy to get rid of, it was in fact heavy, but, we saved the roofs (by not digging too deep)- Haha - believe it or not - it's part of our SUMMER home you now see.

It's hard to believe. It's the same place. (Our Cats will NOT be there during the Winter - nothing to Catch). That's what's so exciting with four distinct Seasons. It's really Heavy to understand, these 3 pictures are from the same spot (allmost). Here you see Felicia.

Take the Photo Hunt Challenge. It's exiting and demanding. Important is NOT the quality of Photographing, but the intepretation of the Weeks Theme. This weeks challenge is Heavy.
Lot's of intepretations. It's very interesting and learning to see how people around the globe inteprete. It's an important lesson. Do not laugh of others, maybe they will find your's "far off", so to speak. It's about learning and respect. And World Peace.

PS. There is no Rats around here this time of year - even though the Chinese "Year/moon of the
Rats began yesterday. Read from "So Shiok"

Waking up after the Party

AFTERNOON FLASH - UPDATE
- scroll down - A Sunday seen from our Winter Home

SUNDAY MORNING - WONDERFUL
It's a common knowledge that the Morning after a Party is unlike a "normal" morning.

At least, that's what I've been told.

When I woke up early this Sunday Morning (after a sudden "fall a sleep") I realized I had something unfinnished... My latest blog post? Yes. I could not find it. What. OMG. I was about to upload pictures when my body brought me to insomnia land. So the post from yesterday is from now on to be called: The Unfinnished.

Then I had to write some comments - 3 kings Day a.o

Here is the view from our Winterhome at 9 am this morning. Fresh - so to speak.
Rosa did also observe the freshness, from inside - in one of the Kitchen Windows. (The old ones is still outside - 4 weeks after schedule)

To Mr and Mrs Lifecruiser: We really hope that Charlotte Kalla will take home the Tour de Ski Trophee to day to Sweden. She is so charming. And a great representative for Sweden. HURRAY - SHE WON

From Office - just outside
From Kitchen - Window 2
From my Office

Photo something: Gross

Weekend February 3-4, 2007
Mrs. Lifecruiser today posted a picture under the Theme: Gross, in the Blogroll Photo Scavenger Hunt.

Naïv as I am, I hardly understand what this is all about, but it seems like someone or anybody can post a photo on their blog under a certain Theme. The only thing I understood was that Gross can mean a lots (sic!). So this is my unofficial debut. Please bear over with me. If not, this will be for the last time. Do you hear me? I have tried very hard to explain what each photo have to do with Gross. I gross my fingers, you'll understand.

Too gross to enter

A Gross rotary snow cutter saved us in the Mountains. Keep the distance or be grossed up.
