High - keep calm - it's HIGH

HIGH,
What a challenge.
High by drugs, high as is . whatever- My choice is a mix: Beeing high by the lack of Air, Travel and Nature.

First time we went to Northern Chile - in 1995 - we had to explore the new snowless road connection between Chile and Argentina (ending in Antofogasta at the Pacific Coast - we did drive some hours on the Argentinian side in December 2007 - Silver Wedding - but not higher than 4.170 meter).
You might know that Argentina and Chile is divided by the mighty Andes. In the South very rainful. In the North: Dryest place on Planet Earth. The Atacama desert.

We descided to drive up to the highest point of the road. (The local map said 5400 meters above Sea Level - 17716.5 Feet) We did see Birds ( Pink Flamingoes in Bolivia, so close we were to the frontier, at the Green Lake) and other animals that only lives in this arrid area. That will be another post - need to scan

I took some photos and fainted due to lack of Air.

Friday bla bla

Hi Folks, buckle up to my Fridays blah - blah. About nothing and everything.

This week here did start with the end of Easter Vacation. An Easter as early as can be, except for one Day. Too early to go to our Summer House. But I did have some wonderful days with Renny and Diane and Kyle.

I'm there too, so is Anna.

Stompa is back in his home. Here in cage before leaving. He behaved very relaxed. Got used to transportation.

Felicia, Rosa and Stompa are very good friends. Here they are waiting for Anna, their servant. Are we talking about FOOD?

Next Week:
I'm gonna take a new job position in the age of 63 (April 10) - and
I'm inviting people to Anna's 60 years Celebration (Sep 20). OK, we have to accept we do not look like teenagers.

Got a call from one of Anna's best friend - after beeing abroad for 8-10 years. I had a 15 minutes talk before I hand over my cellphone. Then the two did talk for - hehehe, you women knows:. until the batteries went flat. It was my Cell Phone, so they talked about 2 houres. I think that's great, no matter the price. Cause this was priceless.

- I would like to go down visting him for a couples of days. But for me, I have to count Vacation days. Must visit Mats (Michigan) and Ingelin (Hong Kong) - U Z. Besides 2 Sons here in Oslo.

Am I old allready? I believe people half my age consider I'm old. Haha - I consider most of to days teenagers old. They can't even go on public transportation without a seat. Too fat, they are. They take the seats from people much older than I am. Who teached them to do so? King Sugar?

Perhaps the most interesting place to visit in Arica is the San Marcos de Arica church. Founded around 1570, the original church was destroyed in 1888 by an earthquake and was replaced by this construction by the famous architect Gustav Eiffel. The more sturdy structure is comprised entirely of prefabricated wrought-iron plates. Only the doors are wooden.

2x13 hours in Mariestad

TORsday Thirteen March 20 - 2008
- Pictures and some Facts from Mariestad, Sweden.

Yesterday afternoon I arrived at Renny's and Diane's leisure home in Mariestad. It's a 4,5 - 5 hours drive from Oslo. The weather and driving conditions were perfect. Here are 13 photos from the first 2x13 hours there. PS. Do not hesitate to click to enlarge the Photo(s) of your choice. You may find some hidden Viking Treasures

1-Sunset as seen from the Livingroom Window

2-Diane has received some Fun Mail

3-Renny too did receive some pleasant mail

4-Next Day, we went for a walk (both our Cars were undergoing some necessary "treatments" at our "CarVets" - LOL) - it ended up with 90 minutes, on concrete. Before we picked up the first Car. Then Picked up the shopping Lady Diane. And then the second Car. Both Cars are no declared healthy and safe to drive.

5-See these stones? They are placed in a certain manner. So what is it? They are reminicences from an old Viking "Thingur". A what? It was here that all disputes were judged and the Viking Chiefs or Local Kings discussed their matters. About 1000 years ago. At least.

6-Mariestad Cathedral. It's really dominating over the old town.

7-Where the river Tida meets Lake Vänern, the largest lake in the Nordics (and 3rd largest in Europe).

8-View up the river Tida with the old Bridge that leads to downtown Mariestad.

9-Easter Flowers at the Flower Market. See, they are yellow. Why is yellow the Colour of Easter in the North? Go here for an unbelievable computer translation. I simply fell off the Chair and Renny allmost called for an Ambulance.

10-Springflowers at the Flower Market

11-Stadshotellet - meaning Hotel City - every Swedish Town with selfrespect do have it's own Stadshotel

12- Street Kitchen. These are typical in Sweden- Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Kebabs, Icecream and all sorts of sweets

13- Sculpture at the New Market. It's called Vänernskeppet - The Vänern Ship.

New bed friend - facts and more

Stompa has been with us for a week now. The plan was to go to our summerhouse and stay there during the Easter Vacation. But we have dropped it. It's too cold during Nights. And our windows in the main house are not isolated, the sleeping room is filled up with plants we hope have survived the Winter and it's too cold and early in the Spring to bring them outside. So thinks the Cats. They will stay inside. We went out to the Summerhouse in todays Sunshine. Cutting down wild roses and rasberry plants from last year. Some Crocuses in Flower. That's very early to be this North. And we did see signs from Mice - looks like we will save Cat Food;))

Stompa is now becoming more and more housewarm. He even jump up in our bed during the Nights and mornings.

Here he has discoverd som old Toes. What do they smell?
18 months ago, he hide for a week, when we were Cat sitters. What a change.

Normally it's Felicia that jumps up in our bed. (She purrs us to sleep).

(If you wonder what Dr. Loosen does here - it's as simple as this: To collect Loose hair of course. The one that have lost less, is declared the Winner and receives an extra portion of premium food. LOL)

Here they play "Hold the Fort". That's what we used to play as kids, during Wintertime. Snow Forts we used to build.

DID YOU KNOW?

1) The African Golden Cat is a medium sized cat and can grow to 90cm (35in) in body length and weigh up to 18kg (40lb). Apart from duika and other small antelope it is thought that the main part of the golden cats diet is made up of rodents, tree hyraxes and birds.

2) The Andean Mountain Cat is to be found in the high regions of Bolivia, Peru and Chile. The mountain cat is slightly larger than a big domestic cat, growing up to 60cm (24in) in length with a tail of some 70% of its body length.

3) Most abundant in Southern Africa, the Caracal is often referred to as the African Lynx or Desert Lynx, but is not related to the Lynx. It grows up to 1m (3ft) in length and the male weighs up to 18 kg. It can survive for long periods without water, obtaining its requirement from the metabolic moisture of its prey such as small buck, sand rats and rock hyrax.

(Must go to Hong Kong in October - Ingelin (daughter)).
